Hello! I'm Dr. Christina Bohn.

This portfolio tells the story of my professional journey so far and contains selected samples of my academic work.

I began teaching at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) in Fall 2020 as Assistant Professor of Old Testament. In fall 2024, I was promoted to Associate Professor of Old Testament. 

In May 2024, I successfully defended my PhD dissertation in Old Testament at the University of Manchester in the UK, which is the terminal degree in my discipline. My research concerned the ways in which several classical prophetic voices portrayed the non-human creation's relationship with eschatological themes. It's way more interesting than it sounds. Prior to my PhD program, I completed my MA in Biblical Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary (2012) and completed a BA in Biblical Studies from Mount Vernon Nazarene University (2010).

Before my position at

 MNU, I taught biblical literature and Hebrew classes as a full-time faculty member at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) during the 2012-2013 school year. While that position was a temporary assignment, I continued to teach online adjunct courses for MVNU from 2014-2017. During these same years, I also taught Old Testament and exegetical courses for the North Central Ohio's ministerial licensing program for the Church of the Nazarene.

My time as a children's pastor (2013-2016), discipleship pastor (2016-2019), and teaching pastor (2019-2020) further shaped me into the instructor I am today. Specifically, these roles taught me how to prioritize spiritual formation, how to pay attention to God, how to listen and relate with challenging people, and how to teach in ways that were both contemplative and prophetically challenging.

Personally, I make up the 2% of women who are an INFJ and am an Enneagram 1 (Reformer). My 5 strengths are Relator, Ideation, Intellection, Achiever, and Input. I have been married to Aaron for 17 years and he makes me laugh an amount that far exceeds the national average.
